Starlink in Nigeria – June 2025 Update

Starlink in Nigeria – June 2025 Update: Availability, Pricing & State Coverage

At Nikitis Tech Hub, I always stay ahead on tech and connectivity — especially when it comes to tools like Starlink, which is changing the game for internet access in Nigeria.

But recently, many clients, engineers, and students have been asking me:

“Wisdom, is Starlink still working in Nigeria? Can I subscribe to it now?”

Let me break it down for you with facts, real-world experience, and what to expect going forward.

Starlink Availability in Nigeria (as of June 2025)

 Direct Subscription is Paused

Since October 2024, Starlink stopped accepting direct residential orders via its official website in Nigeria.

  • You’ll see messages like:

“No services are available at this address”

  • Trying to use just “Nigeria” in the location?
→ It’ll force you to pick a business plan only.

So unless you already have a residential kit, you’ll need to go through third-party resellers.

How to Get Starlink in Nigeria Now (2025)

Option 1: Buy from a Verified Reseller

I personally recommend clients to buy from known resellers in Lagos, Abuja, or PH. They handle:

  • Equipment delivery

  • Setup

  • Activation (via non-congested state addresses)

But always ask if you’re being placed on a roaming plan or a business plan, so you’re not caught off guard.

Which States in Nigeria Currently Support Starlink?

 Congested Areas (Limited or Unavailable):

  • Lagos

  • Abuja (Wuse, Jahi, Garki)

  • Port Harcourt

  • Benin City

These states have high demand and low capacity, so Starlink restricts new residential activations there.

Active & Available Areas (via address trick):

  • Kano

  • Uyo

  • Makurdi

  • Ilorin

  • Ogun rural zones

Wisdom’s Pro Tip: Some vendors register your kit using an available state’s address, then you can use it anywhere in Nigeria — it’ll still work!

Latest Starlink Prices in Nigeria (2025)

Performance in Nigeria (What My Clients Are Saying)

Based on real deployments across 12+ Nigerian states, here’s what users say:

  • 📍 Urban areas: Stable, but speeds drop during peak hours

  • 🌄 Rural regions: Starlink shines — 80–200 Mbps download

  • ⚠️ Problems: Some kits defaulted to roaming mode (extra ₦49,000–₦700,000/month)

Wisdom’s Advice Before You Buy Starlink in Nigeria

  1. Don’t order directly – You’ll hit a wall.

  2. Buy from a known source – Avoid fraud or roaming-only kits.

  3. Check plan type – Is it business, residential, or roaming?

  4. Confirm activation state – Use lesser-known states to bypass congestion.

  5. Use backup power – Include an inverter or solar UPS for router + dish.
